Darren Ferguson has admitted that his star player Ivan Toney could stay with the club as the Peterborough manager insists there has been no contact from the Celtic camp for weeks.

Celtic were thought to be seriously interested in signing Toney from the League one club with The Posh manager and owner publicly placing him up for sale, it was clear that Peterborough wanted to get the highest amount possible for their key player, Celtic just couldn’t justify paying around £10 million for a league one player.

It was reported that Brentford had a bid of £10 million accepted but Ferguson has admitted that Ivan Toney could still stay at the League One club beyond this transfer window.

“WE HAVE FOUR EXCELLENT STRIKERS, FIVE IF IVAN TONEY STAYS, AND THEY WILL ALL COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER.”

With Toney having admitted that he would like to play in the EPL and the 24 year old could reject Brentford and choose the Scottish Champions to play to a bigger audience and follow Dembele and Van Dijk to bigger leagues.
