Christopher Julien hasn’t worn the famed green and white hoops in what seems like an eternity.

The big Frenchman is a Celtic fan favourite, and the Parkhead side has battled to find a steady defensive pairing since the game against Dundee United last season, when a collision with the post essentially terminated his involvement in the ten title winning streak.

Shane Duffy struggled last season, while Carl Starfelt has settled in nicely and produced some genuine excellent form following a difficult start to the season.

However, the huge Swede is nearing the conclusion of a three-week layoff after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Livingston.

On Celtic TV, with Celtic preparing to face Ferencvaros tomorrow night, Ange Postecoglou provided an injury report on Julien, and it appears like Celtic supporters may be able to see the big defender in action shortly.

Yeah it’s to early for him and his recovery.  Again, we have got to be careful with him.

“We want him back. He’s gonna be an enormous asset for us when he does get back but you know long term stuff we just want to make sure that he’s absolutely right.

“He’s not too far away but for a game like this tomorrow. He’s nowhere near ready.”

So it appears that we will have to wait a little longer, but it is promising that Julien appears to be getting closer to returning to first team action, which will be a nice boost for the Celtic boss, who will be without his £4.5 million signing for the next three games.
