Hamilton Academical defender Jamie Hamilton has dismissed links with a move to Celtic, labelling them as ‘pub chat’ in an interview with the Daily Record.

Highly-rated amongst those in Scottish football circles, the 19-year-old has established himself as a first-team regular in Lanarkshire over the last few years.

In 2021/22, the youngster has made 23 appearances for his current employers, scoring on three separate occasions. His contract is due to expire at the end of the current campaign, something that has drawn attention from Celtic alongside Premier League heavyweights Liverpool in recent times.

Despite these rumours, Hamilton didn’t seem too bothered in a recent interview discussing his future.

Speaking to the Daily Record, the central-defender stated:

“Personally, I don’t look into a lot of it as I play for Hamilton.

“I’m at Hamilton right now so I am not looking too much into anything else.

“Hamilton is all that I am focusing on. It doesn’t really bother me too much as I don’t read a lot of it. If the gaffer is calling it pub chat, then that’s all it is.”

Hamilton didn’t give much away when discussing Celtic links

In spite of interest in his services from elsewhere, Hamilton looks to only be focused on proceedings at the Fountain of Youth Stadium for now.

At 19-years-old, his comments show a measure of maturity and level-headedness which will only bring good things as his career progresses. Only time will tell to find out whether Celtic firm up their interest in bringing Hamilton to Parkhead.
