Former Celtic star and now football pundit Kris Commons believes that the Scottish Champions should give one key player a solid run in the squad at the CB role and move to the preferred 3-5-2 formation that fans are crying out to see once again.

With Lennon’s men not having a very good game against Kilmarnock and only managing to finish with a poor draw, many fans have lost some faith in both Ajer and Jullien at the CB role as the defensive duo looked shaky against the rough Killie striker.

Lennon has however said in a recent interview that the club are trying to bring in another defender after losing Simunovic during the summer.

The club only have two main CB’s and that isn’t enough, Commons had said that it could be time to bring Elhamed back into the mix and play him along with Ajer and Jullien, the pundit wants Lennon to revert back to the 3-5-2 formation that suited their style of play.

“Beyond the centre-backs, Greg Taylor is a solid left-back but he’s obviously a downgrade on Kieran Tierney.

“I know for a fact that the club are in the market for another left-back, so you’d think Boli Bolingoli would be on his way out the door if an offer came in.

“Jeremie Frimpong is a huge talent, but he’s still a young boy and will make mistakes. Hatem Abd Elhamed is probably the most natural defender Celtic have. I’d give him a run at centre-back.”
