Rennes star player Mbaye Niang is a major doubt for their opening Europa League clash with Celtic this week in what could be a huge boost for the Hoops.
The former Ac Milan player who impressed last season on loan from Italian club Torino was Rennes big summer signing, after missing out on last weeks derby with a knee injury, it looks like Celtic might have more than a chance in France on Thursday.
With Rennes already missing one or two other key players this might be Celtic’s shot at their first 3 points in the Europa groups this term and sending out a message that we are not here to settle for second place.
The reason Lennon and the Bhoys should be happy about this, Niang was Rennes top goal scorer last season with 14 goals, Celtic will have to be mentally ready for this game and on top form.
If Celtic gain three points in France it would be the greatest start to the season we have had in 10 years or more.
