Celtic have seen an offer turned down for Shabab Dubai forward Mehdi Ghayedi, according to Tasmin News reporter Hatam Shiralizadeh on Twitter.
Seeking to strengthen his forward line in the January window, Ange Postecoglou has already signed two attackers in the form of Johnny Kenny and Daizen Maeda this month. He now looks set to try and bring in another offensive talent, owing to recent reports coming out of the Middle East.
Speaking to his followers on Twitter, Hatam Shiralizadeh documented that the Celts have seen an initial offer turned down for the 23-year-old.
However, the story does not end there. The journalist then went on to say that despite his current employers not wanting to sell him in January, Celtic are determined to bring the forward to Parkhead and are poised to come back in with an improved offer.
Interestingly, the versatile Iranian does look to be in the mold of an Ange Postecoglou signing. Crucially, Ghayedi is capable of playing anywhere across the front four and has registered four goals and one assist in 14 appearances this season.
He has been labeled as the ‘Iranian Neymar’ by journalist Reza Khaasteh, which is bound to excite the Celtic support. Curiously, Postecoglou has also previously cited Iranian players as a source of potential incomings since taking the reigns in Glasgow.
Predominantly a left-winger, the Iran international could provide Jota and Mikey Johnston with some serious competition should a move indeed materialize.
