Report: Celtic look to sign Scottish defender on pre-contract deal
Celtic look to be in the race to sign Hamilton Academical centre-back Jamie Hamilton on a pre-contract agreement, with his deal set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
In what has been an extremely busy transfer window for Ange Postecoglou, the Hoops have already acquired four signings in the form of Yosuke Ideguchi, Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, and Johnny Kenny.
Now, his side could be set to do battle with some high-profile teams as they attempt to bolster the ranks in defence.
Celtic are interested in prizing Jamie Hamilton away from the Fountain of Youth Stadium on a pre-contract agreement, with the 19-year-old looking increasingly likely to leave his current employers upon the conclusion of 2021/22 on a free transfer.
Interestingly, the Scot has attracted attention from many clubs in England and Scotland, with Liverpool, Newcastle United, Hibernian, Aberdeen and Brighton amongst others keen to snap up the 5ft 11in ace.
Impressing for his Lanarkshire club this season, the youngster has made 22 senior appearances netting three times in the process. More than likely one for the long-term, Hamilton would be an intelligent addition that could potentially have great sell-on value years down the line.
Competition for the stopper is widespread, meaning Parkhead chiefs better move quickly if they are serious about tempting him to make the switch to the Premier Sports Cup champions.
