Rodgers Set To Send Former Celtic Player Out On Loan
Former Celtic defender Filip Benkovic has been given permission to go out on loan by ex-Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, and it looks like the Leicester player will be going to Derby until the end of the season.
Benkovic played a huge part in helping Celtic clinch their third treble in a row last season and many Hoops fans were gutted when Benko finally had to return back to his parent club Leicester.
With a base market value of around £8 million (Transfermarkt) and EPL wages, Celtic would have found it hard to come up with a decent offer for the Croatian.
Celtic fans were hoping that Lennon could have made enquires and hoped Rodgers would have let Benkovic return to the Scottish Champions as it only makes sense for him to come back to the club that was getting the best out of him and also developing Filip as a player.
Neil Lennon and the Board will have other ideas of who they want to strengthen the squad with and we can only have faith in their judgment, if Benko does go to Derby or any team for that matter we wish him well and he was a fantastic player for Celtic and has a bright future in football.
