Scott Sinclair is set to quit Celtic and move abroad after the club secured the signing of Mohamed Elyounoussi, Celtic Now And Forever understands.
The Hoops announced last night that Elyounoussi has joined on a season-long loan from Southampton and he is set to slot into the left-wing position in Neil Lennon’s side.
A Celtic source has told Football Insider that the club are set to given the green light for Sinclair to head overseas in the final days of the Scottish window.
The winger, 30, has been frozen out of the first team and failed to even make the matchday squad for the last four European ties, including Thursday’s 4-1 triumph over AIK.
There is interest in Sinclair from overseas clubs and Celtic are expected to let him go following his demotion under Lennon.
The club triggered an extension to his original deal in May, but that now appears simply to have been a device to protect his market value.
Celtic’s first choice wide men this season have been James Forrest and Mikey Johnstone, while Jonny Hayes, Ryan Christie, Lewis Morgan and Marian Shved are also ahead of Sinclair in the pecking order.
With Daniel Arzani also on the Hoops’ books, Sinclair may not be the only wide man who departs Parkhead in the coming days.
