Celtic legend and sports pundit Chris Sutton has made a statement that we can all agree with, Edouard must not be sold in January, not even for £50 million.
This season seems to be going the same way as last with the exception of both clubs run of form, last season Celtic and Rangers were very poor and dropping silly points, this year both Glasgow clubs are on a decent run.
Rangers might be ahead but its so early in the season that we shouldn’t worry just yet as Celtic easily took back control in January and won the treble.
But Sutton makes a very realistic point, Celtic have already sold two key players over the past two seasons so its not hard to believe that they wont do it again, and the Englishman makes a plea to the Celtic board, that they must not sell Edouard in January no matter what the offer is, even £50 million.
The big Frenchman is our only main Striker again, for a second season in a row, we do have Griffiths and Bayo but both may not be ready for a sole pressure role just yet.
Sutton had this to say:
Odsonne Edouard’s stock is soaring after another star turn for France U21s and Celtic will need to be on their guard.”
“The striker has now scored doubles in his last three international games and when you add in his form for his club in Scotland and in Europe it’s not a leap to assume there will be a lengthy queue forming to grab him in January.”
“But let’s be clear. It is impossible for Celtic to even consider selling Edouard – even if they received a £50million bid.”
Edouard has been storming the league this season and also for France U21s, there will be a lot of eyes on him and Celtic need to hang on to him to secure title number nine at the very least.
