Chris Sutton understands that his former club Celtic have an issue with the lack of players in the left/wing back area and urges the Scottish Champions to replace both Hayes and Bolingoli before the end of this window.

The Celtic support and Neil Lennon have been crying out for the club to go and bring in at least one left back as Greg Taylor badly needs the cover and competition.

The transfer window will close on Monday night and apart from a few fitness issues the squad looks fine apart from the lack of left sided players.

If the Hoops gaffer wishes to stick with his chosen formation, the squad needs at least one left back to allow the team to rotate when needed.

Greg Taylor isn’t quite ready to play that wing back position as he can’t seem to cope on the attack, that’s not his issue as Taylor is an old school left back.

Lennon brought in Bolingoli last season to eventually play that role as the rule breaker can attack rather than defend, with the defender now away out on loan Lennon needs bodies in.

Sutton states:

“We all know what Celtic need. They are screaming out for a left full back or wing back to help out Greg Taylor. They’ve lost Jonny Hayes and Boli Bolingoli, so you could argue they need two more”

“The side is far too lopsided at the moment and Jeremie Fringpong is constantly tasked with providing the attacking intent from the wide areas” he concluded.

What If Nobody Is Signed

The worse case scenario that Celtic do not sign a left back could be that Neil Lennon will be forced to play someone out of position and that might not pay off.

The need for a player isn’t a dig aimed at Taylor its just facts and Neil Lennon has said it himself, we can’t be left short in that position.
