Whilst there is plenty to play for this season for Celtic, planning and preparation for the future should never stop and as such, the club’s recruitment team will be on the lookout for players who they could bring in, either in January or the summer.
There are some decent players who are in the final years of their contracts at their current clubs and it would be foolish for Celtic to not be interested in them.
Here are a few players who we think the Bhoys should look to bring in for free at the end of this season.
Celtic’s need to improve their defence is obvious and whilst Gary Cahill may not be playing as well as he has done in the past, he’d still be an excellent addition.
Celtic don’t need a new left-back but Alberto Moreno, who was signed for Liverpool by Brendan Rodgers, could still be a useful addition. He has tonnes of pace and would be a good attacking option for the Bhoys.
Mohamed Diame’s best attributes are his sheer size and power and he could bring some steel to Celtic’s midfield, which has been overrun at times in European games.
Another ex-Rodgers player, Lazar Markovic’s career at Liverpool has not gone well at all. However, he was once regarded as one of Europe’s brightest talents and Celtic could be an ideal place for him to rebuild his stuttering career.
Shinji Okazaki has been a very good player for Leicester City but his time there is coming to an end. The Japanese star is still performing at a high level and would undoubtedly score goals in Scotland.
Ireland’s Jeff Hendrick is out of contract with Burnley this summer. He is capable of playing as a central midfielder or an attacking midfielder and he would be a very good option for Celtic.
