Celtic prepare to face AC Milan tonight in their first Europa League match of the season, all could have been different if the Hoops decided to sell Kristoffer Ajer to the Italians during the summer window.

The Milan manager has confirmed that Kristoffer Ajer was one of many targets that his club were tracking last season and there were rumours of two rejected bids for the Norwegian.

Tonight’s game could have seen Kristoffer Ajer line-up against Celtic, with around 18 months left on his current deal with the Scottish Champions, Ajer could be looking to prove Milan wrong not to further pursue him with a fantastic performance tonight.

Stefano Pioli told the media:

“Yes, we did follow him in the summer.”

“But I am really happy with the squad we have got. I have a lot of players in that position and I am happy with that.”
